Hell, I eat fish, but I'd much rather see a cormorant on a river than a fat bloke smoking rollies with half a van load of fishing tackle dumped around him! Bastards.
I thought that was going to be about proper fishermen, ie trawlermen, not sad blokes with small dicks out to escape the wife. Okay, so they're not all like that, but the last time I went for a stroll around a lake I was astonished at the amount of kit involved - one guy had five rods and they all looked pretty high tech! Okay, everyone needs a hobby, and I used to be into competative fishing when I was 15, but get a grip!
bah i'd love to see cormorants down by the rivers!* i still remember a particually fine heron down in bow when i was going for a walk. Was just annoyed i didn't have my telephoto with me at the time.

Culling simply doesn't work, not to mention they will be indiscriminate and kill healthy birds, gah stoopid people.
In defence of fishermen however; if it wasn't for managed licensed angling our rivers would be more filth laden than they are already, fishing licenses cover some clean up costs (allegedly) not to mention those guys with small dicks (hehe ok most of the anglers I know are bikers who get their cocks out regularly and seem generally to be averagely endowed...one actually has two dicks but the second is quite small...erm I digress now)anywho; they are thoughtful and conservation minded /anecdotal and care a great deal about riverside wildlife plus the waterways they fish. Totally agree the problem is why are they moving inland? as for trawler men I'd be happy to never stick a piece of fish in my gob again if every trawlerman went out of business tomorrow, they are the real bastids, scraping the sea of *everything* leaving utter destruction in their wake.
Another impressive set up from the UK government it seems to me. In one swoop they've managed to pit the RSPB and the NFA (both groups concerned with conservation, all be it for different purposes) against each other AND avoided the cost of setting up the 'range of measures' that the NFA suggests.
Also a satisfactory result for anyone who likes to wave a gun around. Fan-bloody-tastic.
