This happened to one of my friends near Chester - and of course, the stolen goods are only of any use to other horse-keepers.
Just as an aside, if such goods are sold at an ancient chartered market (market overt?) then the purchaser has bought such items in good faith and has legal title to them. I'm always suspicious of some of the stuff on sale at auctions at older farm markets.
