Most RP speakers are under the impression that they don't have an accent at all, which is quite funny.
Ha, now that bit made me laugh.... you see, *I* don't think that I have an accent (although I really wouldn't say that if I do have an accent, that mine is an RP one, definitely not).
I must admit, I get people asking me where I am from quite a lot - not sure why my voice sounds that un-placeable!
This weekend just gone, I went back down to London for the first time in about 2 years to visit a friend, who then almost *immediately* informed me that I had bought a B'ham accent back with me.... I was subject to an awful amount of ribbing about it! :(
You know you've been in a place too long when you inherit the accent! I've also noticed that Pete has *really* picked it up, but then again he's been up here longer than I have.
